After finishing a meal of rice with some unknown meat, we went out to the hut to get the chickens that were purchased for two families. To our surprise, the chickens had gotten loose and they were running allover the compound. It took two adults and three children to chase the chickens back into the hut. After about 15 minutes the last of the chickens were captured. The small children ran around the muddy compound with no shoes to help in the recovery of the chickens. The cow and rooster watched the escapade. The chicken’s legs were then tied with any string that could be found so as not to repeat the scene.
The families live on the other side of the village so we took a horse cart. As we climbed on the seat, the chickens were placed at our feet. The chickens pecked at our legs and feet. I was glad when our ride came to an end and
The chickens had been purchased for two families. Two individuals sent $10.00 each to buy chickens and feed for a family. Having chickens will provide eggs for a family meal several times a week. The families were blessed and surprised that someone in the US thought about their situation.
